The new Mathew St Fringe Festival will feature nine venues programming original bands from Liverpool.
It is the antidote to the official Mathew Street Music Festival. If MSMF is your conservative, older brother who likes cover bands, The Beatles and tribute acts then the Fringe is the cool, rebellious teenager who's into new music, despises the establishment and, although still loves their big brother, finds everything about him embarrassing and uncool.
If John, Paul, George & Ringo are somewhere in Liverpool today, exploding genres and breaking moulds, this is where you'll find them.
Liverpool has the most vibrant, exciting and diverse music scene of any UK city and this is due, in part, to the great venues that promote our local music 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year whether we're capital of culture or not e.g. Barfly, Bumper, Carling Academy, Heebie Jeebies, Korova, Magnet, Zanzibar and many more.
The Fringe runs from Friday to Monday in venues all across the city offering everything from the cool hiphop of Kof to the psychedelic blues of The Cubical. Sunday could be your first chance to hear The Maybes? heart-racing new single Summertime, out on Monday.
