A year of Exploring

In Liverpool '08, the city's heritage reveals itself in many ways, internationally via Cities on the Edge, nationally through projects like Portrait of a Nation  and locally in Around the City in Eighty pubs.

It emerges in the regeneration of its World Heritage waterfront, through the way in which it has built its music scene and its artistic community. It is also manifest in its buildings, like the Bluecoat and Liverpool's magnificent
St George's Hall - a neo-classical icon of the city's maritime wealth.

The city's modern day resurgence now emerges in its contemporary architecture from John Moores University's Art and Design Academy, the landmark waterfront Arena, Liverpool One and beyond that to 2010 and the opening of the Museum of Liverpool.

In '08, a programme exploring this heritage, and the people who helped forge this environment, will take you through 800 years of history and into the 21st century.
